Welcome back and we hope you enjoyed the summer holidays!
We hope that everyone enjoyed the busy first few weeks of the autumn term! Our residential letters have been sent out and we hope many of you will sign up for this fantastic opportunity. We hope the children will really enjoy the different activities on offer both in Cornwall and at school.
Our topic for the of the Autumn Term is ‘Roman Invasion!’. During this topic, we will be covering a great deal of skills from the History and Geography curriculum as well as completing Art and D&T activities. We will also be using the Internet to research different aspects of life as a Roman.
Alongside all of this the children will be learning Spanish, about themselves in SMSC and discovering what is important to us in RE.
Watch this space for an exciting opportunity to join the children as we embark on our Roman adventure!
Spellings are set once a week, with children receiving a look, cover, write, check sheet to complete at home to support them in learning. This sheet will be handed on Monday to be tested the following Monday . If you would like any further support in helping your child to learn their spellings, do come in and ask!
We expect children to continue following the school reading policy of reading at home three-times a week to an adult. The reading diaries have a clear layout for each week to help facilitate this activity. Regular reading will also help your child move through our ‘Read Around Europe’ incentive.
Please continue to practise number facts (such as times-tables) for the weekly test in the fluency section of our maths, which will be handed out on Monday and tested the following Monday. Regular practise is strongly encouraged.
Our PE day is Monday. Please ensure your child has a full PE Kit in school so they can take part in their PE lesson, which is a compulsory lesson. Children can only be excused from PE if they have a signed note from a parent explaining why. Please could all PE Kit be clearly named, as it enables us to return lost kit to the rightful owner!
As the weather gets colder, it’s recommended that the children have jogging bottoms and a jumper to keep them warm as they are outside most weathers!
Questions and Queries
If you have any concerns, questions or queries you would like to discuss with the year 3 team please feel free to pop in anytime or phone the office to arrange an appointment. After school is generally better because we have more time to spend with you!
We are really looking forward to a spectacular Autumn Term and thank-you for your continuing support.
Mrs Hann, Miss Stocker and Miss Doye.
