E-Safety session update

Posted:

Thank you to those that joined us last night for the E-Safety session! I hope you all found it as useful as we did. We have listed below some of the useful links that we were told about:

Dove Films – campaign for real beauty (looking at body image and the magic of air brushing!)

Common sense media – this is a website (looking at ratings, why is it an 18?)

 Internetmatters.org – useful website (general E-Safety)

Safer Internet Centre – (looks at parental controls for your wifi, mobile device)

Watch out for the parents guide to…facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, Twitter… these will follow

Year 5 have the fantastic opportunity to work with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and in particular composer Paul Patterson and conductor Charles Hazelwood. The project is called ‘Strike a Chord’ and begins with some workshops and will conclude later in the year with a concert at the Octagon. We are one of only a handful of local schools selected to take part so this really is a unique opportunity for our children.

Land Yacht Day

Posted:

On 3 December Year 3 held a model land yacht building competition. In teams, the children (and adults) competed to build a miniature working land yacht that was tested using a large fan at the end of the morning.

Great fun was had by all as the distance the land yachts travelled were measured and results tallied.

Thank you to all the adults who came into the school to make this such an enjoyable event.

The recent KS1 Nativity was a huge success! The children remembered their lines, sang beautifully and made parents and staff proud with their wonderful performance. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!

Thank you  to all the staff and children involved for their hard work in a fantastic production.
