Milk for All
A government initiative entitles all Reception children (until they reach the age of 5) and all FSM children to free milk. At Birchfield we have taken this one step further and offer free milk to ALL of our children during lunchtime. We firmly believe the health benefits or milk, keeping our children hydrated make our children better learners.
Fruit for All
The school embarked on an initiative in 2014 to provide a free piece of fruit to every child, every day in KS2 (this is a compulsory requirement in KS1). The children have responded fantastically to this and enjoy the variety of fruits we offer.
‘The Hungry Tree’ provides a variety of freshly prepared nutritious meals on site. We change our menu regularly to reflect the seasons and allow the children to try new dishes, while still incorporating some of the favourites!
We cook fresh homemade food from scratch using trusted local suppliers. Our fresh fruit, vegetables and salad are delivered daily and quality fresh meat is sourced from a local butchers.
We consult with children, parents and staff to include their ideas where possible and aim for all children to enjoy their meals provided.
